Peter Stansfield - Founder and MD of Work Future

Who leads Work Future?

Peter Stansfield, Perth's Mr Workplace

Work Future is led by Peter Stansfield, a workplace transformation specialist who has spent the last 17 years of his 25 year career delivering and consulting on people centric workplace transformation projects across the world, with a particular focus on the UK and Australia.

Initially cutting his teeth as a banking analyst, Peter progressed to become a qualified professional Project Manager (APM) in 2009, whilst delivering business projects for a bank in the UK.  This was where he first came across workplace projects and immediately felt the draw of delivering something tangible that improved the employee experience whilst combining his passions for people change, technology, and workplace design.

From there Peter became the Global Workplace Manager for Unilever in London, UK consulting on 70 projects across 40 countries.  It was here that Peter combined his experience to date to develop the blueprints for all future successful workplace transformation projects he’s led. Learn more about Peter’s framework and approach here: workplace transformation framework.

Following on from Unilever Peter was tasked with consolidating three buildings into one, a completely new design and fit out, supported by the adoption of Activity Based Working (ABW) for the first time in their 100+ year history at QBE Insurance European HQ in London.

From 2017 Peter relocated to Sydney, Australia, initially running the adoption of ABW across the Qantas Airways HQ in Mascot Sydney for 5,000 employees, before taking senior roles and leading workplace transformation projects for NSW Land Registry, PICA Group, and Sydney Water.

In 2022 a further change came when Peter relocated to Perth, WA. Whilst in Perth, Peter both independently and from 2024 via Work Future has been developing and delivering workplace strategies, workplace transformation projects, and workplace tools.  During this period this has been mainly for large government utilities and councils.

Work Future has provided Peter with a platform to share some of the knowledge and expertise he has built up over the years.  Peter writes thought leadership pieces on workplace transformation, ABW, workplace strategy, office relocations, office restacks and more as well as posting regularly on the Work Future blog pages and on his LinkedIn account www.linkedin.com/in/mrworkplace (feel free to connect).

Alongside developing workplace strategies and leading workplace transformation projects, Peter has also turned his attention to the development of practical workplace tools. Work Future currently offers three to date, which are:

  1. Work Stack: A block and stack planning tool for fast, visual restack scenarios and executive-ready outputs.

  2. Work Move: An office decant planning tool, which generates a phased move plan covering swing space, sequencing and move counts

  3. Work Calc: A Work Space Calculator, to test whether you need more space, more desks or a different way of working.

These tools can be used by anyone on their own; however, they also enable Work Future to now offer a new, unique, rapid delivery model called Work Sprints.  This is a fixed-price, one-week engagement that resolves a single defined workplace problem, from space pressure to a restack, decant or desk sharing decision.

What workplace projects has Peter Stansfield led?

Peter has led and consulted on large scale workplace transformations and office relocations for organisations including Unilever, Qantas, QBE Insurance, NSW Land Registry, Sydney Water, Lloyds, Water Corporation, City of Rockingham, Land Services WA and PICA Group, globally with a focus on London, Sydney and Perth.

Where can you read Peter Stansfield's writing on the workplace?

Peter publishes regularly on the Work Future blog and on LinkedIn at linkedin.com/in/mrworkplace, covering workplace strategy, workplace transformation, Activity Based Working, office restacks and the future of work, with a particular focus on the Perth market.
