Workplace Technology and Experience

Technology is one of the three things that make a workplace project work, alongside the space and the people, and it is the one most likely to negatively influence the employee experience if it’s not carefully considered. When it is done well, you barely notice it, as the journey within the workplace is frictionless. However, when the booking system is clunky, the meeting room screens struggle to connect first time, and the locker system is down, the technology stops being an enabler and becomes a potential reason people would rather work from home.

Work Future helps Perth and WA organisations get the workplace technology right, so the tools support an excellent employee experience for your people.

What workplace technology and experience covers

  • Occupancy data collection methods, including sensors and booking data.

  • Technology at the desk, including end user computing.

  • Technology in meeting rooms and shared spaces.

  • Desk and meeting room booking systems.

  • Locker systems for a desk sharing environment.

  • End user experience and workplace apps.

  • Any other hardware/software that an employee would use in the workplace.

The employee experience matters

With return to office on the agenda for a lot of organisations, the employee experience matters more than it used to. If you are asking people to come in, the workplace has to be worth the commute, and the technology is a big part of whether it is. A smooth arrival, a desk you can find and book, a room that just works, a locker system that is not always down. Get that right and the office feels like it works the way it should. Get it wrong and clunky technology will erode the employee experience around it.

Why Work Future

We see technology as one of three functions in a workplace transformation: space, technology and people. Work Future will collaborate with your in house ICT team or outsourced vendors, supporting the solution architect and IT PM with workplace technology expertise to ensure we land on an integrated solution that aligns with your broader digital roadmap. We are not a reseller, and we do not install hardware. We help you work out what you need, specify it, select it alongside your IT team and vendors, and make sure it lands as part of a coherent workplace technology solution.

Frequently asked questions

What does workplace technology cover?

It covers the technology people interact with in the workplace, including desk and meeting room booking systems, room and audio visual technology, end user computing at the desk, locker systems, occupancy sensors and the workplace apps that tie them together, along with the experience all of that creates.

Do you install the technology?

No. We are not a reseller or installer. We help you work out what you need, specify and select it alongside your IT team and vendors, and make sure it fits the workplace and the ways of working it is meant to support. The install is handled by the right specialists, with us keeping it joined up.

How does technology link to desk sharing?

Closely. Desk sharing depends on people being able to find and book a desk easily, store their things securely, and trust that the system works. Booking systems and digital lockers are commonly installed in that environment, and it’s important they’re carefully considered to achieve the most optimised user experience for a price that matches the project budget.

Why does workplace experience matter for return to office?

If you are asking people to come in, the workplace has to be worth the trip. Technology that gets in the way, rooms that do not connect, desks that cannot be found, gives people a reason to stay home. Getting the experience right is part of making the office somewhere people choose to be.

Do you work outside Perth?
